Overview

How do you turn temporary reward boosts into a predictable growth engine?

How do you turn temporary reward boosts into a predictable growth engine?

If you’ve ever used a reward app, you’ve probably seen an offerwall.

It’s the place where users complete tasks- downloading apps, reaching levels, signing up for trials, in exchange for in-app currency. It’s simple, performance-based, and surprisingly powerful.

For publishers, it’s a strong monetization layer.
For users, it’s a way to progress without spending real money.

But we noticed something interesting.

Whenever we ran a limited-time boost - 2x or 3x rewards - engagement jumped. Revenue spiked. Users moved faster. There was energy.

Problem

Users had no reason to act now instead of later.

Users had no reason to act now instead of later.

Before this feature, the offerwall looked the same every day. The reward for an offer was fixed. There was no urgency layer, no visible difference between “today” and “next week.” Behaviorally, users had no reason to act now instead of later.

On the publisher side, things weren’t much better. Running a promotion meant coordination with internal teams. There was limited visibility into performance and no way to compare campaigns against historical baselines.

We were leaving growth on the table.

Solution

Making Value Obvious

During a promotion, the original reward is struck through. The boosted value is paired with a clear multiplier badge - 2X, 3X.

Introducing Urgency

We added real-time countdown timers, turning promotions into time-bound events. This was reinforced with in-app banners, and reminders before expiry.

Managing Promotions

A central dashboard shows scheduled, active, and completed campaigns with revenue and engagement at a glance.

Creating a Promotion

We designed a simple, self-serve flow where publishers can set a reward multiplier, define timing, add optional budget caps, and preview exactly how the offerwall will appear.

Communicating the Moment

We enabled publishers to trigger push notifications when promotions go live and before they end - turning boosts into moments users don’t miss.

Learning from the Data

We surfaced real-time metrics and post-campaign insights- engagement lift, revenue uplift, conversion changes, and ROI vs baseline.

Reflection

Urgency creates energy. Structure sustains it.

What I loved about this project is how small design changes created outsized impact.

A strikethrough.
A badge.
A timer.

On their own, they’re simple UI elements. But when paired with backend systems and analytics, they transform behavior across an ecosystem.

Offerwall Promotions turned from a manual tactic into a repeatable growth engine.

And it reinforced something I deeply believe:

Good product design isn’t about adding more features.

It’s about making moments matter.

Thanks for your time :)
